My engine runs on 32 mm 0 gauge track.

As you can see in one of the pictures, the chain is between the frameplates. As I did not have a suitable U-profile aluminum channel for the frame, I bolted two frameplates together using blocks of brass to keep them spaced.

The engine is gas fired. The boiler has one flue and a poker-type burner of 6 mm diameter. The gas tank is from a design by a friend of mine.

The oscillator is double acting of my own design, which I have used on other projects. The cylinder has a single groove packed with rolled Teflon tape. I did not use the the boiler mounts, as I feared these might touch the flue and might draw too much heat from the boiler. I used brass bands, which I soldered to the boiler mounts. I also made a conventional lubricator, which is fastened to the footplate.

I had a lot of chain left over from another project, but no sprockets, so I made these myself. I made a blank in which I drilled holes in the mill, then turned away as much as needed. Then I formed the teeth with a file.
